Exotics of the Rainforest

Take a walk on the wild side. Exotics of the Rainforest is visiting with parrots, reptiles, amphibians of the rainforest for a fun and interactive educational event.

¡Explora!

Saturday, June 15th | 2:00 p.m. | Children's Branch

¡Explora! is a science center in Albuquerque, but their educators travel around the state to provide STEM programs for schools and communities. OFPL hosts Explora events about 3 times a year. These events introduce elementary aged students to different science concepts and experiments that make learning feel like play. ¡Explora! is bringing all new makerspace and tinker activities for all ages.

 

Family Stargazing with the Albuquerque Astronomical Society

Saturday, June 22nd | 7:00 p.m. | Red Rock Park

The Albuquerque Astronomical Society (TAAS) is visiting Gallup with their portable planetarium and telescopes. Join us for a night of family fun, food, and stargazing. Special thanks to Butler's Office Equipment and Supply for sponsoring this event.

 

 

Wonder on Wheels

Tuesday, June 25th | 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. | Children's Branch

Wonder on Wheels is a mobile museum featuring 300 square feet of exhibits and activities. The Summer 2019 exhibit is Space History and promises fun and informative for all ages.

 

Timmy Telescope

Sunday, July 9th| 11:00 a.m. | Children's Branch

Come observe our closest star, the sun. This solar astronomy outreach group offers direct sun observations with special solar telescopes, as well as, live stream projection observation for those complying with Dine' traditions. We'll also be exploring a scale model of the solar system and making UV light bracelets.

 

Race Car Design Challenge

Wednesday, July 17th | 3:00 p.m. | Children's Branch

Do you have a need for speed? Girl Scouts of New Mexico Trails invites children (boys and girls) for a Race Car Design Challenge. Kids will learn how to design cars and race tracks then carry out fair tests to learn how design and friction affects speed.
